  • Do you have a safety program?
    Yes, on all our projects we hire a safety coordinator who creates a safety program that’s applicable to each job.
  • Does Skidder self-perform any work on commercial projects?
    No, all this work is performed by overqualified subcontractors that we have spent years vetting out and building long relationships with.
  • How many commercial jobs have you completed?
    Skidder has over a hundred successful commercial projects that they have completed.
  • What type of commercial projects can you perform?
    We have a large variety of commercial project experience varying from multimillion-dollar ground up construction to small Tenant improvement projects.
  • Do you offer General Contractor Services for Commercial work?
    Yes, we are a full-service commercial building contractor as well, this is a totally separate service from our Residential side of the company.
  • Do you have a project size minimum?
    We do not have a set-in place project size but, over the years, we have figured out what we are most competitive at and when we make our first call, we ask questions to make sure it’s a project we can help with.
  • Can structural walls be removed?
    Yes, we have access to many industries leading structural engineers who can design to accommodate almost any desired structural changes that our clients want.
  • Do you do handy man work?
    No this is not the service we offer, we are geared more to larger remodels.
  • Do you do out-of-town work?
    Yes, but we analyze each job requirement and make sure it’s a fit for our company.
  • Do you do whole house remodels and add ones?
    Yes, this is one of our specialties at Skidder Construction – we have many large-scale remodels that our team has completed and references we can provide.
  • Do you have land/lots available to build on?
    No at this time we do not own any land to build – all our custom homes the land has been purchased by the client.
  • Do you have references?
    Yes, we have multiple custom homes we have made and many of our clients have let us bring future clients through to see our work.
  • How do you manage changes in the project?
    Every change order is discussed with the clients and changes in prices agreed to in writing by all parties before proceeding.
  • Do you do contracts on your jobs?
    Yes, as Skidder Construction no matter what the project is we do a contract for the protection of us and the Client.
  • Do you have homes to choose from?
    Yes, our custom home designer has many floor plans but modifies them all to meet the client’s needs.
  • Do you charge for estimates?
    No, we do not charge for estimates.
  • Do you help with HOA approval?
    Yes, in our experience we can fill out your HOA forms and give it back to the client so you can submit it to your HOA.
  • Do you provide written estimates?
    Yes, each project gets a very detailed estimate.
  • Do you build pools, patios and outdoor kitchens?
    Yes, we do, and we are partnered with one of our designers who does our pool designs.
  • Can you match all my current brick or stone?
    This depends on the age of the home and what finishes you have, in most cases if we cannot match it exactly, we can get a very close match.
  • Do you provide appliances?
    We can provide appliances, but our clients generally purchase their own appliances with a selected vendor or ours who provides a turnkey purchase, install and warranty program.
  • Are drawings required for a kitchen remodel?
    This is a tough one, in our experience with all the moving parts of kitchens and key placements of items drawings are a must. However, we have been successful at doing without but overall, it is our professional opinion to spend the extra money and get drawings done.
  • Do you use prefabbed cabinets in your kitchens?
    No – this is one area that sets Skidder apart from our competitors – every piece of millwork we install is 100% custom to your project and built by our Master Carpenters with decades of experience.
  • How long do kitchen remodels take?
    Depending on the complexity of the remodel, most kitchen remodels take 8-10 weeks but vary from each job.
  • How and where do we make selections for our kitchen?
    We have multiple accounts across the city with the best vendors in the industry to ensure we can meet all our clients’ selections needs.
  • Do you offer warranties?
    Yes, we do offer warranties, and they differ with each job so at the end of each project when we do the handover, we review the applicable warranties for that project.
  • How long does it take to remodel a primary bathroom?
    Every job we do is different but the general timeline for primary bathroom remodels is 8 weeks but can be longer or shorter depending on the complexity.
  • How do you finish pricing before selections are made?
    In a perfect world we get all the selections upfront, however we know that is not always the case, so if you don’t have selections that’s not a problem we can just plug in allowances and finalize the selections once you decide to move forward.
  • Do we have to have drawings done for a bathroom remodel.
    No, we can remodel bathrooms very successfully without drawings, but it always makes life easier for everyone if we have drawings.
  • Do you provide drawings?
    We don’t personally do drawings; however, we are partnered with 3-5 top notch designers in our area, and we can make the introductions, and they complete the drawing packages and selections.
  • How long have you been in the business?
    Skidder Construction was founded and opened in 2017 but we have a combination of over 35 years of experience with our team.
  • Are you insured?
    Yes, Skidder Construction Inc is fully insured. We hold safety and liability to the utmost of standards and pride ourselves in safety and quality while ensuring all local and national codes are met. What happens when the cost exceeds budget, whether due to materials or labor pricing changes? Skidder Construction Inc. has built our reputation on honesty and integrity and we work to ensure that what we quote is what you get charged. However, in the event that a change order is necessary clear and open communication is our motto. Once we are aware of a change in the scope of work we will immediately alert the customer to the previously unforeseen and work alongside them to ensure full satisfaction.
  • Can you provide me with references?
    Of course, we have a list of references from years of previous work and we also hold an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau.
  • Who will be working on my project?
    We only hire the most professional and skilled subcontractors in the business. Our reputation alongside long standing business relationships allows us to provide the customer with the best quality and services.
  • Can you give me a written estimate?
    Yes, all of our complementary quotes and estimates are in writing and work only begins after approval from the customer and a deposit received.
  • What is a Contractor?
    Contractors are often known as project managers. They oversee the entire remodeling of your project or new home construction and facilitate all day-to-day tasks enabling timely completion. A building contractor works with architects, engineers and homeowners alike to plan and build your project to ensure everything is in order before the work is even started. Furthermore, contractors arrange for all the necessary permits and inspections throughout the construction process. While good local home improvement contractors will have the skills to handle certain tasks onsite, such as carpentry, he or she is also responsible for hiring subcontractors for the majority of jobs, such as electrical work, painting or plumbing. In addition, the contractor oversees such work on-site and inspects the progress while resolving any potential issues that may arise. A good contractor acts as an intermediary guiding homeowners through the process of construction. This ensures their dreams become reality.
  • When can you get my job done?
    We work with your schedule to get your job done during the time frame that is most optimal. Details will be discussed on a case by case basis.
  • How many projects have you completed?
    To date Dustin and Casey have a combined total of over $1 billion in commercial and residential projects.
